As part of a machine learning classification project involving the recognition of pictures of marine species, I developed a database of marine species including Vertebrates (jawless fish, cartilaginous fish, bony fishes, turtles and marine mammals) and invertebrates (crustacean and mollusc).
I believe that species identification by the general public to to determine the impact of species displacement due to Global Warming.
This applications allows anyone to identify to marine specie through a dichotomous key or an index of key features.
This application is still very basic and depending on the outcome of the machine learning problem, I hope to include (1) an algorithm to help in the identification of a marine specie and (2) the ability to load a marine specie identified through this app into a database with location based on latitude and longitude coordinates.
