On The Hunt is a GPS-based platform with many potential applications.
Typical examples include scavenger hunts, self-guided tours, and adventure races.
Depending on the options selected, users are presented with an animated compass showing direction to their objective, current direction of travel, and distance to their objective.
Different challenge levels can be selected to apply a time limit to reach each objective.
The most difficult level removes the compass providing users with only the distance read-out to direct them! The distance read-out is configurable for metric or standard units via a menu option.
A search feature allows users to find a user experience, called a Quest, located nearby.
Any individual or business can develop a quest using the in-app 5-step design wizard.
Options exist to make the quest available for anyone to access (public) or only to select individuals (private).
Additional options provide unique and exciting experiences including enforced ordering of quest objectives (users must accomplish objectives in a certain order) and open order quests (users select from available objectives).
A message can optionally be delivered to users upon reaching each objective.
This message could, for example, assign users a challenge or task to complete in the case of a scavenger hunt, or provide historical landmark information in the case of a self-guided tour.
In game type scenarios the message could serve as a hint or riddle users must answer, with the next objective being locked until answered correctly.
Also for game scenarios, a point system has been implemented.
