Sportinclusive is the first e-learning platform for sports coaches focused on promoting the social inclusion of newly arrived migrants and refugees through sport.
From 2013 to 2015, immigration to the EU-28 from non-EU countries increased by 62.6% (Eurostat, migr_imm5prv).
The number of asylum seekers in the EU-28 increased by 123% for the first time between 2014 and 2015 (Eurostat press release 44/2016).

However, working on the social inclusion of newly arrived migrants and refugees can play an important role in mitigating these problems.
Sport has long been recognized as a tool for promoting social inclusion.
The Council conclusions on the role of sport as a source and driver of active social inclusion (2010 / C 326/04) recognize that: "[.] sport plays a strong social role with a powerful potential for social inclusion, [ .] for which social inclusion through sport implies participation in society, community development and the strengthening of social cohesion ".
The Partners of the Sportinclusive project have developed a long experience in using sport in order to promote social inclusion.
However, when we started working with newly arrived migrants and refugees in 2015, we noticed that our methods were not as effective with that group of people as they are with other disadvantaged groups we work with.
We felt the need to improve the skills of our sports coaches, so we decided to develop the first open and multilingual e-learning platform for sports coaches on how to promote the social inclusion of newly arrived migrants and refugees through sport.
