About Dharma Dana
One of the teachings of Hinduism that must be lived and practiced to share with others is the Dana Possession teaching.
The word Dana Got means giving sincerely as a form of practicing Dharma teachings.
The main purpose and teachings of Dana Milik are to cultivate a sincere mental attitude in the human person in carrying out the teachings of Wairagya, namely: the teaching of detachment (sincereness) in one's self.
The term giving is commonly referred to as the Dana Possession teaching, generally in the form of material in the form of movable objects and immovable objects.
To invite the public, especially Hindus, to implement the Dana Possession teachings, Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia Center through Sabha Pandita has issued Bhisama (Fatwa) Number: 01/Bhisama/Sabha Pandita Parisada Pusat/X/2002 dated October 28, 2002 regarding Funds of Possession.
To optimize the Possession Fund movement, the Central Parisada Management has formulated the amount of the mandatory Possession Fund for Indonesian Hindus, which was later called the Dharma Dana based on the Mahasabha IX Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia Decree Number: IV/TAP/M.Sabha IX/2006 dated 17 October 2006 about the National Fund Dharma.
The amount of the Dharma Fund has been determined, namely 2.5% (two point five percent) of the income.
Based on Bhisama Dana Milik, this figure can be explained as follows:
According to Sarasamuccaya 262-264, the allocation of the work proceeds should be divided, namely one third for Dharma (sadhana ri kasiddhaning dharma), another third for Kama (sadhana ri kasiddhaning kama), and a third for Artha (sadhana ri kasiddhaning artha wrddhyakn mwah), according the following quote:
"That is the case, then the profits are divided by three, one part is for the cost of realizing the Dharma, the second part is for the cost of fulfilling Kama, enjoyed and the third part is for developing business capital in the field of Artha, so that the economy can grow again, thus the results should be the effort is divided by three, by people who want to get happiness (262).
In Wrhaspati Tattwa sloka 26, seven actions are classified as Dharma, one of which is Dana or Possession.
Based on the distribution of Dharma and the allocation of one's work (income), it can be broken down as follows: 33.1/3 % (which is allocated for Dharma) divided by 7, so it can be rounded up to 5%.
Thus every Hindu is obliged to set aside 5% of his net income.
With so many social obligations in the community, specifically, the 5% is divided into two, namely 2.5% for Dharma Dana managed by the National Dharma Fund Agency (BDDN), and 2.5% for other socio-religious obligations according to individual needs and desires.
