Maternal and Child National Nutrition Protocols
Ministry of Health (MoH) through the Nutrition Department (ND) and Primary Health Care and Public Health General Directorate (PHCPHGD) decided to revise and update the Maternal and Child National Nutrition Protocols (MCNNP) that were produced by MoH in 2005 through MARAM project (USAID).
The currently updated protocol had been supported financially by UNICE, technically by joint work of group of experts from MOH and Ard El-Insan (AEI) and Juzoor who had been assigned the task of reviewing and consolidating the older protocol.
Comments and overviews of different stakeholders were taken into full consideration including; UNICE, Nutrition Working Group, Nutrition Department representative in MOH, experts at national level in specialized NGOs including AEI account the comments, overviews and advices of colleagues from different areas specialized in health and nutrition.
The aim of these protocols is to provide the best appropriate Maternal and Child Nutrition practices based on each setting needs.
Effective management includes implementation of and adherence to these protocols by the service providers having after completed successfully appropriate competency-based training.
Although these protocols have been updated for primary health care settings, the same principles and procedures apply to general health settings.
