The Ovgoro app provides a modern exploration experience of the Lefka Ori, or White Mountains, in the island of Crete (Greece).
Ovgoro originates from the Cretan dialect and is used to describe an open space with view.

The traversing of seven different routes, including the Samaria Gorge, becomes easier and more interesting with the use of your device as a guide.

The app is based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and a web of installed beacons.
The beacons have been installed in various points of interest in the town with various themes, such as the history of the region, the natural environment, culture and architecture.
The system is activated when your device approaches one of these beacons.
Once this happens, the app presents rich information for the point of interest which has been matched with the particular beacon.

The goal of the app is to highlight the infrastructure of the city and encourage various visitor groups to gain new experiences.
