Nina Paleys work dazzles me for a multitude of reasons, but the highest high point for me is the jaw-dropping economy with which she packs so much symbolic meaning into her biblical iconography.Paley is exceptional, and can fill your head with multiple overlapping meanings in just a few deft strokes.
She is the picture-making equivalent of a great writer, and a thousand words are simply not nearly enough to exhaust what we might meaningfully observe in one of her pictures.
