Te R Ngahau m te Whnau i Runga Tereina/Whnau Fun Day on the Train

This digital book was written primarily for 9-13 year olds who speak the Mori language.
It was commissioned by Auckland Transport, NZ and launched at the beginning of Te Wiki o te Reo Mori (Mori Language Week), 2015.

The story is about a whnau who takes a train trip from Pukekohe to Eden Park to watch the Downer NRL Auckland Nines.
Along the way they learn about a number of places in the Auckland region, their original Mori names and why they are of significance to Mori.

The book was written in te reo Mori then translated into English, so it is likely to appeal to a wider audience - young and old alike.

The book is available for free on iTunes and can be downloaded through Auckland Transports website.
The apps functionalities include Swipe-to-Read, Tap-to-Hear and Tap-to-Spell.
These help learners with pronunciation and spelling and reading and language fluency.
