Welcome to Whare Krero, Fire and Emergency New Zealands Mori Cultural Intelligence app.

Whare Krero is designed to help the workforce of Fire and Emergency New Zealand on those occasions where an understanding of Mori tikanga; rituals, protocol and etiquette are required.
It is also intended as a useful resource for our clients and members of the public.

New Zealand is a unique mix of cultures and all of us must be comfortable with, and respectful of, the different aspects of each culture.

By increasing our knowledge, we can increase our understanding.
By increasing our understanding, we can increase our trust and respect for each other.

This resource is intended to help us grow this understanding by alleviating any barriers to participation and building understanding of each others culture and values, which is a gift we can pass on to future generations.

Weve included information on te reo Mori (the Mori language), tikanga (customs), whakatauk (proverbs) and waiata (songs), to help you understand more about our unique and shared cultural heritage.
