Arte urbana lucense is an app in Galician that collects cataloging sheets of urban art resources in the city of Lugo, understanding the expression "urban art" in a broad sense, that is, as a generic name that encompasses different street artistic manifestations.
Taking into account the essentially didactic purpose of the work, developed at IES ngel Fole de Lugo, as well as the ephemeral nature of most of the works of urban art, the catalog does not want and cannot be definitive, but we take care that it is representative of the diversity of shows that the city treasures.
In each catalog sheet you will find the following data:
Denomination.
If the work has a title granted by the author, this is stated; if it is missing, it is given a name that allows its identification.
Photography.
One or, exceptionally, several images are attached, with plans, frames and compositions at the discretion of the cataloging person.
Kind of good.
Although urban art includes a wide variety of resources, the works cataloged here belong to one of these three fundamental categories: graffiti, mural and lettering.
Especially controversial seems to be the differentiation between graffiti and mural; we decided to be guided by these three criteria, which, however, are not always easy to apply:
Graffiti: without authorization; of a social or political nature, and with vindictive, satirical, protest intent, etc.; form of leisure for its author.
Mural: with authorization or even by order; of a decorative nature or with a didactic or advertising function; profession for its author.
Authorship When applicable and possible, the nickname and the author's own name are specified.
A significant number of goods are signed by collectives or associations.
Date of creation.
The year of completion of the work is recorded, if known.
Date of registration.
The day, month and year in which the resource is photographed are indicated.
Address.
The name of the building (if applicable), the street and the number where the asset is located are indicated; if it is in a less defined place, as much data as possible about it is added.
GPS coordinates.
Latitude and longitude are required.
The "How to get there" button allows you to trace the route that leads to the work.
Description.
It is the most extensive section and includes different information about the resource, which may vary according to the characteristics of each specific artistic manifestation: reproduced motif; material, technique and style used; meaning or purpose, etc.
And now it's time to walk around and locate urban art displays.
Start walking around your neighborhood or others further afield, let yourself be seduced by the evocative power of the words and images that come your way, experience the aesthetic emotion, soak up the critical and transgressive spirit.
and enjoy every discovery!
