Pesco Sannita is a traditional village founded in the Middle Ages, located on a rocky hill on the right side of the river Tàmmaro.The inhabitants’ strong penchant for agriculture, always the main source of sustenance for the Pescolani, is favored by the presence of the river, which makes the surrounding land fertile.
Of the two thousand inhabitants of Pesco Sannita, 70% live in town and the rest in the several sub-municipalities its territory is divided into.
The area displays all the typical features of Campanian hill country, with its wealth of shapes and colors.
Vineyards, olive groves and green Mediterranean brush – the typical vege- tation of middle and low hill slopes – alternate with the orderly geometry of ploughed fields, making the area very pleasant and relaxing.
The slope onto which the town extends is about 393 meters above sea level.
Pesco Sannita is only a few kilometers from Pietrelcina – the native town of St.
Pio – and is easily reachable from Naples by the Naples- Bari highway, and from Rome by the Rome-Naples highway and then the Telesina state road.
