Optikey android keyboard introduces a new keyboard layout named QWRYUP, a modified version of QWERTY for easy typing with one right thumb.
- The keys are laid out similarly to QWERTY, with changes of a few keys to contract the keyboard so that the right thumb does not need to reach for the leftmost keys as in QWERTY.
Hence user can type longer text without tiring the thumb as well as reduce typing errors.
- OPTIKEY continues to provide the standard QWERTY so that user can use it when needed.
- Number and symbol keys are ready on the standard OPTIKEY keyboard without switching to Symbol board.
- Smiley keyboard is provided to insert smileys.
- Telex mode in typing Vietnamese: with extension to use letter l as accents for ă, ư, ơ (as w in Telex), also uu is ư.
- Latin base characters (such as å, ç, ë, ñ, æ, .) can be typed in Global mode, so many Latin based languages can be typed.
- At first, it can be a bit strange for user to use QWRYUP, but hopefully the more you use it the more you are familiar with it and feel more convenient to use it than QWERTY.
