There are mainly two types of sensory deficits for humans.
One is hearing impairment and one is visual impairment.
Both impairments are coupled with communication difficulties.
One cannot easily talk with other people, and one cannot properly read printed letters.
To solve this problem, there are alternative communicating methods for them.
Those two alternatives are sign languages and the Braille.
In the case of sign language, exposure to the media is fairly frequent and therefore it became relatively familiar to people.
Unfortunately, this is not the case with Braille.
Because of its complicated rules and numerous exceptions, it is difficult for people to learn and it is hard to expose to the media.
However, the population of impairments are 300M and 285M each.
It means that visually impaired people’s population is only slightly smaller than the population of hearing-impaired people.
Therefore, to be equal to all people, we think it is necessary to make Braille more popular than it is now.
Currently, it is almost impossible for visually impaired people to communicate in written language, and this is a big defect in communication for them.
We thought that we should solve this problem by making people find it easy to learn Braille.
As a result, we came up with the idea to make a Braille education app for non-handicapped people.
